No More New Make-Up?!

I'm on a spending ban.

I have so much make-up and nail polish that hasn't been touched, and I always buy more! I don't need it! I've stopped purchasing beauty boxes too, I've received so many samples from these boxes and I never use any of them, so I always give them away to my sister.

I have about 2 years worth of unopened mascara to be used, enough liquid foundation to cover my body twice, barely touched creamy and powder blushers, and too many lipsticks to choose from.

Nail Art #22 | Chinese New Year Nails!

Sun Lin Fai Lok!
Happy New Year!

Hello everyone! It's Chinese New Year this weekend and I'm working my butt off in retail, so I won't get to visit China town and see all the celebrations. Which sucks, but at least I get to enjoy all the amazing foods my mom will cook!

Red and yellow or gold are colours that are always seen together in the Chinese culture. Red is a symbol of happiness and good fortune, where as yellow or gold is used for luck and wealth. The colours compliment each other so well, and I just had to do some easy nail art to celebrate Chinese New Year.

I used Rimmel's Ruby Me and Model's Own Gold Digger for this nail art.

Will you be off to China town this weekend to see the celebrations?

Review | Soap & Glory's Archery Tint & Brow

Soap and Glory's Archery Brow Tint & Pencil is the perfect combination for natural, soft looking brows. It comes in two shades, Love is Blonde and Brownie Points. I got Brownie Points as it's the darkest shade. On one end there is a felt tip, used to fill in gaps and add fullness, while the other end there's a pencil, designed to shape the brow.

I love the felt tip side, it's so easy to use and doesn't look harsh on my brows. The tip is really fine, so when applied it blends in with my brow hairs while still adding fullness. Sometimes it feels like there's no product coming out from the felt tip, but I think this has been designed this way so you don't draw on Sharpie brows.

After using the tint, I use the pencil to shape and soften the lines from the tint around the beginning and edges of my brows. I have a little problem with the pencil. It seems to flake off bits when trying to apply it to my brows. The pencil is quite hard, but this isn't a bad thing. I think if it was softer, I'd end up drawing really harsh lines.

You can see in the top photo that my brows are a little sparse, and they're also a bit wonky. I used the tint to make my brows fuller, and then I used the pencil side to shape the brows and sort out the wonky brow line. Soap & Glory's Archery makes my brows look fuller, while still looking natural. I would definitely purchase this again.

Special Delivery #18 | #LipGlam

*I was sent this sample by #LipGlam, all thoughts and opinions are still 100% honest.

You can never ever own enough lip balms. Especially one that is multi purpose! #LipGlam is a natural long lasting, highly moisturising balm that can be used on dry patches, cuticles, rashes, you name it! It contains lanolin, a natural emollient extracted from sheep's wool, combined with natural botanicals, which absorbs really fast and leaves the areas moisturised. Not only that, it's also made in England.

#LipGlam is said to give 8 hours moisture. However, after applying this in the morning and getting on with my day, I did find I would have to reapply a few hours in. But if I applied before I went to sleep, my lips would still feel moisturised in the morning. I like how it's in a tube too, I hate applying lip balm with my fingers, it always feels really unhygienic.

The #LipGlam balm is not sticky, which means it's great for random dry patches on the body. I've used it on my cuticles after I've painted my nails, and they did feel moisturised. This multi purpose product would be really useful for nights out. (I once used my lip balm to soothe my dry hands, it did not work well, my hands felt so greasy!)

The only thing I dislike about this product is that it is really hard to get out of the tube. When I received the balm in the post, there was a sticker on it suggesting I put it in warm water for a minute to soften it. It's not ideal when I'm out and really need to use a lip balm, only I can't because I'd have to wait and warm it up in a pocket. For that reason I just end up reaching for another lip balm. I do imagine this would be different in the summer.

This is a really great lip balm, but I wish I didn't have to warm it up before using it. You can buy it here for £9.99.

Have you tried #LipGlam before? Do you have a favourite lip balm?

Nail Art #20 | Pool Party

I am so happy this blue is now in my life. When I was in primary school, our uniform consisted of  blue jumpers or cardigans. When I was in secondary school, our ties were navy with blue and white  stripes. When I was at university, my lanyard was a cornflower blue. My education was pretty much shades of blue! (Apart from my college, that was all red stuff...)

This polish by Ciate, is 'Pool Party', a royal blue shade. I used two coats of this followed by a yellow stripe down the centre of the nail before sealing it with a top coat. Ciate's 'Pool Party' dries to a matte finish, which is not what I expected. I added a yellow line down the centre of the nail, just for a bit of contrast. This shade definitely needs to be glossy.

Do you have a favourite shade of blue?

Special Delivery #17 | A power bank!

Beau and I are spending a night away from Birmingham, and what really sucks is that our hotel check-out time is 11am. ELEVEN. IN THE MORNING. Which basically means our phones will die some point in the day and when we get the train home we'll be running on 2% battery and no fun games to play. We will be on a train that presumably has no charging sockets (London Midlands! Get with the times!).

So that's why I bought this little cutie. Okay it's not that cute. But it doesn't look ugly either. It's very small and sleek, and weighs 300g. This is the Romoss Sense 4 Power Bank. It holds 10400mAh, I don't really understand what that means, but, my brother who understands things like this, says it'll charge my iPhone 5 at least 4 or 5 times before the power bank needs to be fully charged again. I bought it from eBay for £9.95.

The box contains a manual in Chinese, which isn't useful to me, but the pictures make it easy to understand how it works. The lights on the side of the power bank indicate how much power is left. There is a micro USB port to charge the Romoss power bank to a wall socket or laptop using the plug provided, and two USB ports to charge your phone or tablet.

I got my phone down to 11% before deciding to plug my phone into the power bank using a 3 in 1 USB plug I bought from eBay, and after an hour of it being plugged in, I was at 60%. I bought the 3 in 1 USB plug because I wanted to make sure I'd always have a charging cable with me, and so that other people with different phones could use it too. I store the power bank and the plug in the pink bag that I got from October's Birchbox. Which then gets tossed into whatever bag I'm using that day...

It's a great little gadget that's perfect for days out and long journeys.

What do you think of power banks? Would you buy one?
