Getting the perfect hair, skin & nails: Week 4

My hair is so much more thicker!
Ring finger nail is the length the other two nails should be at

It's the last post of my weekly updates on my hair, skin & nails guys! If you haven't seen my previous posts before, I've been taking Perfectil tablets for the past four weeks in an attempt to get thicker hair and stronger nails. I am fine with how my skin is, so that's not my main priority. Since I got my hair cut in December, my hair has been lifeless. My hairdresser cut off my long hair up towards my shoulders - all the thickness was taken away after all of my long layers were cut. I had described and shown, how long I wanted my hair to be, and showed him various pictures, but I said I wanted my hair to be a bit longer than the pictures. He forgot the last bit and just went by pictures. I was mortified. Anyway, I was left with healthy hair to start the process of growing it all back.

My nails were chipping and splitting from winter, and no anti-splitting/chipping polish was working. A few months later, I noticed how my hair was still not thick, and not much longer. I took some other tablets which had biotin and selenium in, two key nutrients that Perfectil boast about. Only, my tablets didn't have enough of it in, and I wasn't seeing any improvements after taking them for a few weeks. So I bought Perfectil Original for Skin, Hair & Nails, a box of 90 tablets. I needed improvement to my hair and nails fast, and while doing so, creating posts for it each week to document the process. (Click here to see all of the past posts)

My hair has improved the most, it is much more thicker than it was a few months ago. I can tell it's getting thicker because of how difficult it's starting to brush my hair in the morning! My hair has grown, but not by much. I switched up my shampoos a lot, so I can't comment on whether L'Oreal's Fibrology shampoo was working. I've noticed a few spots on my scalp near my baby hairs, which I can't help but poke and pick. So I had to use a medicated shampoo for that part of my hair, which  made it go away in a day!

My nails have also gotten a lot stronger. For 2 weeks I used Sally Hansen's Nail Growth serum, which made my nails feel stronger. However, the third week I stopped using it so much, and when taking off nail polish, which normally makes my nails feel weak, my nails felt stronger. It's the forth week now, and I've stopped using it, and my nails still feel strong. I think this is a joint effort of using Nicole by OPI's Strengthener Plus, as well as the serum and the tablets. But after I've taken a hot shower, my nails are still delicate and feel as if they could break any minute.

I'll be continuing taking these tablets, as well as using the nail products, up until I've run out of them. I would definitely recommend these tablets, but only if you remember to take them every day.

Getting the perfect hair, skin & nails: Week 3

My hair seems to be getting thicker! I can tell because it's starting to get tangled and takes me longer to brush my hair with my Tangle Teezer. I read in a magazine that if you use hair masks more than once a week, it can damage your hair because of too much protein! I've always stuck to using a hair mask once a week anyway because I'm lazy. Upon closer inspection to the ends of my hair, I have noticed some split ends are appearing. I won't be taking a trip to the hair dressers for a trim, i'll just do it myself.

For the past two weeks I've worn nail polish for a few days at a time, which hasn't damaged my nails in the slightest. It feels like the polish is protecting my natural nails from chipping and splitting. I'm also using Nicole by OPI's Nail Strengthener as a base coat. When I paint my nails, I leave a small gap between my cuticles and the polish, so I can apply the serum at the point of nail growth. When I have bare nails, I always feel them catching onto my clothes and it's usually due to hang nails (dry bits of skin around the nail) or a bit of nail that needs filing down. I've also noticed that my nail is growing away from it's bed! I've never had this happen before, but apparently it can take months for it to heal, and I'm supposed to keep the nail short to avoid any trauma to it. UH HELLO! I've got my birthday coming up, I've got graduation, I've got wireless. I don't want to make it worse so using a fake nail with nail glue is not an option. Also it's only my right hand which is having nail problems due to me being right handed. (I tried whisking with my left hand the other day. Did not work.) I have noticed my nails do feel stronger even without nail polish on, but there is still a bit of splitting.

My skin normally breaks out before my time of month, but this time I saw no spots! But for some reason, after my period finished, I've got one hard spot on my chin, nothing a bit of tea tree oil can't stop. My skin feels a bit clogged up, so I really need to exfoliate it soon with lemon juice and baking powder. (A gross blog post to look forward to!)

It's the 3rd week that I've taken these tablets and I am reeaaaaaally struggling to remember to take them after a meal!

Getting the perfect hair, skin and nails: week 2

It's now the second week (and a few days! Click here to see week 1) that I've been taking the Perfectil tablets.

ARGH what is going on! My nails aren't very strong and i've had to cut some down to prevent the nail from being ripped off, which is mainly happening on my left hand. My right hand is still experiencing splitting. The nail serum seems to work best when it's applied on bare nails, although it says you can use it on polished nails too, it just doesn't do much when there's polish applied. So I've had to switch between using OPI's nail strengthening polish and the serum.

As for my hair, it seems a bit thicker and stronger. My last hair cut was 6 months ago, and I've had no split hairs since, so I must be doing something right in hair maintenance.

On my chest, I sometimes have spotty skin which I have a habit of scratching, the tablets haven't done anything to my skin to combat that. I have also noticed that the spotty 'chicken' skin, aka Keratosis pilaris, on my upper arms has reduced!

With the Perfectil tablets, you are supposed to take them with a main meal every day, but I sometimes question whether what I'm eating, for example, a grilled cheese sandwich, is a snack or a main meal. Obviously I won't take the tablets after say, an apple or a packet of crisps.

Getting the perfect hair, skin and nails: week 1

I recently purchased a pack of 90 Perfectil tablets, as well as some nail care products. I am hoping that when my graduation comes round, (July 17th) my hair will be super long again, and my nails will be strong and healthy. I am going to keep eating the same food as I always have done, maybe chuck in an egg a day for extra protein.
Perfectil tablets are designed to help maintain and nourish great looking skin, hair & nails, all in one tablet to be taken once a day after a main meal. The Sally Hansen Miracle Serum is supposed to smooth cuticles and promote nail growth. OPI Nicole by O.P.I Strengthener Plus is also designed to promote nail growth.

There aren't any problems with my hair, I just want it to be thicker and longer. I am currently trying out L'Oreal's Fibrology shampoo, but I haven't noticed any major changes. I'm also using both Percy and Reed's TLC Hydrating mask and Argan Oil's hair mask once or twice a week. This is the current length of my hair:

As I paint my nails quite frequently, they have suffered from the acetone polish remover I had been using, I've switched removers for one that is acetone free. My right hand nails are constantly splitting from working in retail, and I have neglected them a lot:

I have currently taken the tablets for one week and used the nail growth serum as well as OPI's nail strengthener, and I've noticed a difference to how strong my nails have become. I know the tablets are also supposed to help my skin, but I'm not sure what to expect... I will update each week with new posts to let you guys know about any changes!
