Nail Art #54 | Leafy Greens

Hey everyone! Today's manicure has a little tropical feel to it. I was stuck for nail art ideas when I had a look at my stamping plates. I realised I hadn't used any of the designs from MoYou London's Enchanted Stamping Plate, in #13. I hadn't used it because it's so delicately detailed, I just didn't know where to begin. My mind is just overwhelmed with ideas when I look at the plate.

First, I painted 2 layers of Essie's Fiji, a very pale shade of pink. Then, I picked a simple leafy design, using Model's Own Edamame stamped over all the nails. Then I picked a vine design scraped with Model's Own Green Tea, stamped onto my thumb, middle and pinky finger. Topped it off with a fast drying top coat (I used Essie's Good to Go) and there you have it. A very simple leafy manicure. You can barely see the Edamame coloured leaves, but in person they're there, and they look super cute.

Let me know what you think about my latest post in the comments!

Nail Art #53 | I'm Late! Nails

"I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye! I'm late! I'm late! I'm late!"

Earlier this month it was my birthday, and my boyfriend surprised me with a limited edition 6 piece OPI Alice in Wonderland collection from QVC. If you don't live under a rock, this collection was to tie in with the new Alice in Wonderland sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass. Now he's seen me watching QVC when certain brand are on, and I had no idea he'd get this for me! I didn't even see it on TV! And they're all full sized!

I used A Mirror Escape, a gold glitter, as the base, and What's a Hatter with You, a beetroot pink, as the stamping polish. I used a rabbit design on plate 13 from MoYou London's Suki range. I painted two coats of A Mirror Escape, then I applied a top coat to seal in the glittery bumps. I did this so the stamped design would go on smoothly. After, I did the stamping steps - add polish, scrap, roll stamper, stamp - and sealed the design with a top coat.

I haven't seen the film yet, have you?

Nail Art #52 | Pink Marble Nails

Hello everyone! This week I've created a pink marble nails. They're super easy to do, and require only three shades of polish, two brushes and one steady hand.

I'm using Essie's Fiji as the base, Splash of Grenadine as the middle, Funny Face as the darkest colour. To create the marble, I used the dry brush technique and painted Splash of Grenadine in one direction across the nail. I used a thin nail art brush to create tiny, broken lines with Funny Face. I then dipped a clean up brush in nail polish remover and lightly swept it across the whole nail. I sealed it with a fast drying top coat to complete the look.

If you don't use a top coat, then you'll have a weird texture on your nail from the polish remover, so please use it! I think it makes the marble looks way better when sealed with a top coat.

Nail Art #51 | Candy Pink Nails

Hello everyone! Sorry that I haven't been posting much, a mix of waiting for my nails to stop splitting and being at work. And my work means having a lot of broken nails. I'm trying out different nail care products to see what currently works best for me. So while I've been waiting around, I've picked up some nail polishes and been frustrated that I couldn't paint my nails for the blog because of how short they were becoming.

OPI released these Hello Kitty polishes awhile ago now, but and I managed to get my hands on them recently when I saw them for a very good price. The polish is quite a thin consistency, and you'll need 2-3 coats depending on how well you applied the first coat. If you don't apply the first coat well, you'll definitely need three, maybe four, to hide any uneven spots.

This shade is 'Look At My Bow'. It is a candy pink colour, a shade that is not too pale and not too bright. An all round good shade, it's just a shame about the consistency.

Do you own anything from the OPI x Hello Kitty range?

Nail Art #50 | Naked Nails

Okay so my nails aren't actually 'naked', but they are coated in a nude polish! I love nude shades. They effortlessly look brilliant, and look great whatever the occasion, whatever the outfit, whatever the weather. This shade by Essie is 'Ballet Slippers'.

Some brands of nail polishes I found, have a consistency that doesn't work with me any more. Their new releases just don't seem to apply as well as their older stuff, which is why I'm hesitant in trying newly released polishes. Hopefully O.G. nail polish brands like Essie won't flake out on their future releases.

Nail Art #49 | Daisy Nails

This week I've been trying out Model's Own Luxe polish, I only have one shade so far, and I don't think I'll be getting any more. It has a thin consistency, and you need about three layers to make it opaque. It doesn't apply well -- it's difficult to get an even coverage because it's so thin. I love the shade (Princess Pink) but damn! I just hate when a polish is like that. Don't get me wrong, their normal ranges of polish are amazing!

I used MoYou London's Suki stamping plate #13 with Barry M's Gelly in Grapefruit, which was much more opaque, and works great for stamping too. And yes, I'm aware I need to work on my stamping technique but this is my second time stamping! I think I did okay.
