Nail Art #47 | Pink Tweed Nails

So I've been away from the blogging world for a few weeks; retail work over the holiday period meant less time for nails and more time in the store. But now that's out of the way hopefully I'll have more regular nail posts. This is also why I choose to paint nail art onto false nails, so I can get back to them when I'm not at work. I used to paint nail art on my natural nails, but I'd always rush them and they'd never look how I wanted them to.

I've been obsessed with tweed style nails for a while now, but I've never found a colour combination that I liked, until I saw one on Instagram and was instantly inspired. I tried doing a tweed pattern horizontally and vertically but I didn't like how it turned out, so I stuck with small, horizontal stripes.

For these nails, I used six different colours to achieve this look. I used Model's Own Luxe in Princess Pink, Model's Own Hypergel White Gel, Lilac Sheen, Cerise Shine, and Ciate's Big Yellow Taxi.

What do you think of this look? Love it or loathe it?

Nail Art #46 | Christmas Nails

Well helloooo! I haven't posted in just under a month! And it's because I work in retail, and from November onwards it's work nearly every day so I haven't had a chance to write, or take photos of my nails with good lighting.

I was hoping to be able to have a new post up every week in December, all with different Christmas nail art designs. But that didn't happen...I'm just gonna blame working in retail. It just gets busier and busier the closer it gets to Christmas.

I've used Barry M's Gelly paint in Cotton and Sugar Apple. They're really good quality polishes that are nearly opaque, meaning I can get on with my nail art faster as I don't have to apply more than two layers of polish. I still have blocked nail art pens (still can't find a needle or pin thin enough!) so I've been using brushes to create my designs.

I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas!

Nail Art #44 | Broken Glass Nails

Hello everyone! This week I've created some broken glass nails! I've seen this look all over Instagram so I had to do my own version.

I'm using holographic tape, cut up into tiny pieces and stuck them on the nails, my only issue is that the tape wouldn't lay flat and would curl up at the ends. I am not sure how to fix that issue so if anyone has any suggestions please comment below! I think the holographic tape would work perfect with or without polish.

The holographic nail polish used is by GOSH cosmetics; it doesn't have a name but it's the only holographic nail polish they sell so it's an easy find.

Nail Art #43 | Ghostbusters Nails

Who you gonna call?! GHOSTBUSTERS! I'm not a fan of Halloween, I hate horror films and anything scary. I do love a good supernatural film every now and then, and Ghostbusters is an all time classic around this time of year.

I didn't really know what to paint on my nails for Halloween this year. I was torn between Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. I wasn't sure how to execute Back to the Future on my nails, so I went for Ghostbusters and their monsters, as well as the iconic logo, "Who you gonna call?" line, and some laser beams.

It was hard to do these nails with my blocked nail art pens, (still can't unblock them!) I had to use the striper end which was a little tricky to do. I used a mix of striper brushes and dotting tools to create these nails.

What are you up to this Halloween?

Nail Art #42 | Pink Camouflage Nails

Hello everyone! How fast is October flying by? I don't know where the times gone but soon all the Christmas markets will be out, the lights and decorations, all of the festive hot chocolates.... It's my favourite time of the year! Anyway, it's still October, and it's Breast Cancer Awareness month.

It's a worldwide campaign, highlighting the importance of breast awareness, education and research. So many brands are on board in creating products for the month, and donating the profits to charity. You should be regularly checking your breasts and surrounding areas for any lumps, But it's not just lumps you should be looking for, CoppaFeel have a list of things to look out for, which you can read here!

I wasn't too sure what I wanted to paint, and I wasn't sure what shade of pink to use, so I thought I'd use them all in a camouflage print and hoped it'd look okay! And I think it does. I used six shades of pinks and they are: Crabtree & Evelyn in Petal Pink, Barry M Gelly Paints in Grapefruit and Pink Punch, Model's Own in Soda Pop Pink and Sophie's Pink, and Nails Inc in Picadilly Circus.
