Nail Art #49 | Daisy Nails

This week I've been trying out Model's Own Luxe polish, I only have one shade so far, and I don't think I'll be getting any more. It has a thin consistency, and you need about three layers to make it opaque. It doesn't apply well -- it's difficult to get an even coverage because it's so thin. I love the shade (Princess Pink) but damn! I just hate when a polish is like that. Don't get me wrong, their normal ranges of polish are amazing!

I used MoYou London's Suki stamping plate #13 with Barry M's Gelly in Grapefruit, which was much more opaque, and works great for stamping too. And yes, I'm aware I need to work on my stamping technique but this is my second time stamping! I think I did okay.

Nail Art #48 | Chinese New Year Nails

Hello everyone! Happy Chinese New Year! So the date that Chinese New Year fell on was pretty special for me. I booked my driving test for 11:11am on the 8th of Feb. 11:11 where you're meant to make a wish (and lots of other spiritual meanings), and the number 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture. I actually booked my test on this date without knowing it would be Chinese New Year, and it was the earliest Monday that I could book my driving test for. Anyway, it all worked well in my favour as I had passed my driving test!

I'd like to think I did everything I could to get some luck for the day... I painted my nails red, my instructors car was red and I was wearing red. Red, in Chinese culture, symbolises luck. I definitely went over board with my superstitions.

For this look I've used Essie's Fishnet Stockings, a gorgeous deep red, and Barry M's Gelly Nail Paint in Cotton. I'm also using MoYou London's #07 Fashionista Plate for the nail art. I'm new to stamping, I've always been against it, but it's such a quick and easy way to make a basic manicure into something a little different.

Nail Art #47 | Pink Tweed Nails

So I've been away from the blogging world for a few weeks; retail work over the holiday period meant less time for nails and more time in the store. But now that's out of the way hopefully I'll have more regular nail posts. This is also why I choose to paint nail art onto false nails, so I can get back to them when I'm not at work. I used to paint nail art on my natural nails, but I'd always rush them and they'd never look how I wanted them to.

I've been obsessed with tweed style nails for a while now, but I've never found a colour combination that I liked, until I saw one on Instagram and was instantly inspired. I tried doing a tweed pattern horizontally and vertically but I didn't like how it turned out, so I stuck with small, horizontal stripes.

For these nails, I used six different colours to achieve this look. I used Model's Own Luxe in Princess Pink, Model's Own Hypergel White Gel, Lilac Sheen, Cerise Shine, and Ciate's Big Yellow Taxi.

What do you think of this look? Love it or loathe it?

Nail Art #46 | Christmas Nails

Well helloooo! I haven't posted in just under a month! And it's because I work in retail, and from November onwards it's work nearly every day so I haven't had a chance to write, or take photos of my nails with good lighting.

I was hoping to be able to have a new post up every week in December, all with different Christmas nail art designs. But that didn't happen...I'm just gonna blame working in retail. It just gets busier and busier the closer it gets to Christmas.

I've used Barry M's Gelly paint in Cotton and Sugar Apple. They're really good quality polishes that are nearly opaque, meaning I can get on with my nail art faster as I don't have to apply more than two layers of polish. I still have blocked nail art pens (still can't find a needle or pin thin enough!) so I've been using brushes to create my designs.

I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas!

Nail Art #44 | Broken Glass Nails

Hello everyone! This week I've created some broken glass nails! I've seen this look all over Instagram so I had to do my own version.

I'm using holographic tape, cut up into tiny pieces and stuck them on the nails, my only issue is that the tape wouldn't lay flat and would curl up at the ends. I am not sure how to fix that issue so if anyone has any suggestions please comment below! I think the holographic tape would work perfect with or without polish.

The holographic nail polish used is by GOSH cosmetics; it doesn't have a name but it's the only holographic nail polish they sell so it's an easy find.
